Level ini menguji kemampuan Anda untuk berpikir kritis tentang sebuah teks. Anda tidak hanya memahami, tetapi juga menilai, menimbang, dan menanggapi isi serta cara penyajian teks tersebut.
1. Menilai Fakta atau Opini
Membedakan antara pernyataan yang dapat diverifikasi kebenarannya (fakta) dan pernyataan yang didasarkan pada keyakinan, perasaan, atau penilaian penulis (opini).
Contoh Teks:
“The city completed construction of the new bridge last Tuesday, a project costing over $50 million. While it is an impressive feat of engineering, it is an unnecessary eyesore that has ruined the town’s historic skyline. Clearly, that money would have been better spent on improving public schools.”
Contoh Pertanyaan Evaluatif:
“Which part of the statement is an opinion?” (Jawaban: Bagian yang menyebut jembatan sebagai ‘unnecessary eyesore’ dan klaim bahwa uangnya ‘better spent’ di sekolah adalah opini penulis).
2. Menilai Kecukupan dan Validitas Informasi
Mengevaluasi apakah informasi yang disajikan dalam teks cukup lengkap, akurat, dan dapat dipercaya untuk mendukung argumen penulis.
Contoh Teks:
“A recent online poll on a popular social media app showed that 90% of respondents prefer our brand of snack. This proves that our product is the nation’s number one choice.”
Contoh Pertanyaan Evaluatif:
“Is the conclusion that the product is the ‘nation’s number one choice’ valid?” (Jawaban: Tidak valid. Polling online dari satu aplikasi tidak mewakili seluruh populasi ‘bangsa’ dan cenderung bias).
3. Menilai Kesesuaian
Menentukan bagian teks mana (kalimat, paragraf) yang paling efektif atau paling sesuai dalam menggambarkan sebuah ide, karakter, atau argumen utama.
Contoh Teks:
“Anya’s dedication to river conservation began in her childhood, watching the once-clear waters of her hometown become polluted. Last year, her group organized a ‘River Cleanup’ event, drawing hundreds of volunteers. A subsequent report from the Environmental Agency noted a 40% reduction in key pollutants, directly attributing the improvement to community efforts spearheaded by Anya’s organization.”
Contoh Pertanyaan Evaluatif:
“Which part of the text best provides concrete evidence of the activist’s effectiveness?” (Jawaban: Bagian terakhir, yang menyajikan statistik spesifik (‘40% reduction’) dari sumber resmi (Environmental Agency), adalah bukti terkuat dari efektivitasnya).
4. Menanggapi Isi Teks
Mengungkapkan kesan, perasaan, atau pendapat pribadi terhadap bacaan, seperti setuju/tidak setuju, kagum, bosan, atau terinspirasi, dan dapat menjelaskannya.
Contoh Teks:
“After months of hard work, the protagonist finally reached the summit, only to find the treasure chest empty. He laughed, looking out at the sunrise, and realized the journey itself had been the real reward.”
Contoh Pertanyaan Evaluatif:
“What is your impression of the story’s conclusion?” (Jawaban bisa bervariasi, misalnya: “Saya merasa akhir cerita ini inspiratif karena menunjukkan bahwa proses lebih penting daripada hasil,” menunjukkan tanggapan dan penilaian pribadi).
5. Menilai Realitas atau Fantasi
Menganalisis apakah peristiwa atau skenario dalam teks dapat terjadi di dunia nyata, berdasarkan pengetahuan umum dan pengalaman pribadi.
Contoh Teks:
“The detective scanned the room. He noticed a single drop of water on the dry floor, yet all the windows were sealed. He concluded the suspect must have entered through a portal from another dimension.”
Contoh Pertanyaan Evaluatif:
“Is the detective’s conclusion based on reality or fantasy?” (Jawaban: Fantasi. Meskipun premisnya realistis, kesimpulan tentang ‘portal’ masuk ke ranah fiksi ilmiah/fantasi).
